Engineering & Compliance Evidence American Buildings Company / China Sourcing
Request a traceable evidence package for Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings. The table records what must be checked; example inputs illustrate a request format and do not represent verified supplier ratings or a permitted design.
Project document matrix
| Review area | Request format | Verification and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Design basis | Illustrative wind speed: 45 m/s; ground snow load: 1.5 kN/m²; seismic input: 0.30 g only as a format example. | The appointed engineer determines site criteria, code edition, combinations and exposure definitions. These numbers cannot be transferred to an unspecified location. |
| Steel and connection | Request grade, mill standard, section schedule and bolt specification; Q355 / S355 are examples of grade references. | Grade labels alone do not establish equivalence. Review mechanical properties, thickness ranges, toughness requirements and material traceability with the supplier. |
| Envelope | State required U-value in W/m²·K, panel thickness in mm and complete assembly fire resistance in minutes. | A panel core result does not qualify doors, joints and penetrations. Ask for test report identification, tested construction and permitted application scope. |
| Welding and coating | Request the applicable welding specification, procedure qualifications and coating acceptance criteria. | AWS D1.1 or EN 1090 may be relevant depending on contract and jurisdiction. Naming either is not a claim of supplier certification or automatic project approval. |
| Inspection method | Before shipment, agree accessible members, sample locations, instrument calibration status and acceptance limits. | An independent inspector can record identifiers, compare documents and witness agreed measurements. Actual readings and reports are produced only after the commissioned inspection; concealed work may require earlier hold points. |
Scope comparison should retain separate columns for frame geometry, envelope build-up, connection method, corrosion protection and freight exclusions. Bolted packages can reduce shipping volume but shift control to site assembly; welded assemblies can simplify some connections while occupying more cargo space. Record both approaches against the same design basis instead of treating either method as an unconditional advantage.
Evidence acceptance checklist
- Match the certificate holder, facility address and covered scope to the proposed supplier.
- Record report number, issuing body, drawing revision and sample identification before technical acceptance.
- Check that any ISO 9001 certificate concerns management systems rather than structural approval.
- Obtain the local engineer’s review of calculations and foundation reactions before material release.
- Compare coating options with exposure and maintenance access; painted and galvanized systems both have inspection and repair limits.
